For
this project I plan on using photographs from NASA’s website which are all in
the public domain category, I have not decided what exactly I want to do with
this or what concept I want to go with just yet. I would like to just use the
images and see where it goes and what seems attractive to the visual eye. In
the article Copyrights and Art the rules and laws for using someone else's work
in the art world is explained. There are 3 ways to protect your art work. The
first of the three options is freeware. Freeware offers copyright protection
without charge. The public domain gives you more freedom when using and
creating new art out of someone else’s art. The second option, copyright
protection, requires a person using your work to pay to use it. The cost can
range from $150 for one time use to thousands of dollars. The third and final
option is photographs in the public domain. This allows for photos to be used
free of charge, photographs that have expired under copyright protection
eventually end up in the public domain.
Hi Kristi,
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting! How do you think this idea fits into the project theme of a social critique or commentary? What message or mood will you create by combining and altering these machine-made images?
