Pieces of the Horse

My horse Missy inspired me to create this piece. It is several different images of her put together to make a head.  My horses have been such a huge part of my life and will always be. I printed out several images tore them apart and put them back together in what I thought looked best to me they are just taped on the back which has no significant meaning but they are safety pinned to our blanket which is how we put our number on when we are showing. The blanket one of our show blankets therefore it has a lot of memories.  Overall I want everyone to get a happy feel about this picture. Horses are looked at as horses even though there is a lot more to them, like how they are therapeutic and always there for you they are sturdy but easy to tear down and ruin. I wanted to create a piece where horses are appreciated and to show how beautiful they really are. I wanted to create a piece honoring horses.

Final project for the class....

These are some of the pictures I am going to use for this last project. I want to create a happy and very intriged mood for this project, it wont be a particular size that I have decided yet I am going to dispplay it on a saddle blanket that I have used on my horse many times before. The feed back that I would like would be an overall feeling of happiness and nothing depressing I want people to know that horses are a really amazing creatures and they deserve to be respected.

Final project

For this project I plan on taking different parts of my horse and maybe some other horses and scatter them, the concept of this is to show how the small things wether it be in life or something as simple as  legos or as comple as horses build off of each other and to show that some of the small and most simple things in life can be the most beautiful and most compex. I really want to show the natural beauty of the horses I really dont think that they are given enough credit for what they do and how they act, they are some of the most beautiful and elegant animals, horses really are my life they consume it. I want the horse to consume the picture and be the main focus. I plan on using my own pictures and for size I am not sure what size I would like to print at, for what I want to print on would be a high gloss paper.

Check this guy out!!!

http://www.noupe.com/inspiration/awesome-hand-painting-art-by-guido-daniele.html

Last project!

I used the Muybrige frame by frame version and cut the guy out of each frame except for his legs, I then took pictures while I was actually on my horse and just selected myself out the pictures and copy and pasted myself on to each individual frame. That was pretty much how I did it. My horse was facing the other way when I was taking these pictures or having them taken of me and that's why I am facing backwards. I was actually trying to do all the steps that I do when I actually stand up on her not sure if thats noticeable or not. Feel free to leave any comments.

Final for project 3

I decided to leave this as my final submission for this project. I am mapping out what horses I have rode over the years, I want to create a relaxed, happy, dream/past like picture. All of the images in this picture are ones that I have taken over the years of the many horses that i have rode. As sad as it makes me to know that some of these magnificent creatures that I once rode are not here with me anymore I know that they have made a great impact on y life and have helped mold me into the person I am today and for that I will always be grateful to these creatures that love you no matter what. I wanted to really create a tribute for the horses that have been in my life and even for those who have not. I really don't think they are given as much credit as they should receive few people know their full potential and that is my main motivation for creating this project. Horses really are my life and have helped me in times when humans were not able to without the horses I have had in my life I can honestly say I do not know where I would be today pr who I would be for that matter with all the things there are to turn to in this world I always find myself turning to these beautiful creatures!

Final

My social critique is that not everything has to be perfect a very hard concept for me to grasp. I feel like so many things in this world have to be as close to "perfection" as possible. When creating this piece I either wanted it to be completely dark around the earth or white while in the process of creating this I realized the only reason I wanted it to look that way it because it would seem perfect to me, so in the process I began to change little aspects of it in small amounts until I enjoyed looking at it which led me to this having it similar to the way I wanted but learning to let it be "flawed" by having some of the edges visible.

Idea for project 2

For this project I plan on using photographs from NASA’s website which are all in the public domain category, I have not decided what exactly I want to do with this or what concept I want to go with just yet. I would like to just use the images and see where it goes and what seems attractive to the visual eye. In the article Copyrights and Art the rules and laws for using someone else's work in the art world is explained. There are 3 ways to protect your art work. The first of the three options is freeware. Freeware offers copyright protection without charge. The public domain gives you more freedom when using and creating new art out of someone else’s art. The second option, copyright protection, requires a person using your work to pay to use it. The cost can range from $150 for one time use to thousands of dollars. The third and final option is photographs in the public domain. This allows for photos to be used free of charge, photographs that have expired under copyright protection eventually end up in the public domain.

Copyrights & Art article Summary

In this article they talk about the legal rights of pieces of art that you might own, that you yourself have created, or pieces that you might want to use. For example when they point out that if you own a Picasso you have the right to restrict, deny, or be compensated for access to it due to its copyright laws but other than access to the image the only limit to using these materials is your own imagination. They bring up several cases were people sued big companies/movies like the architect/artist Lebbeus Woods who sued the maker of a movie because one of their rooms in the movie looked similar to one of his drawings he won the case. Or when the photographer Denis Brack recognized one of his photos used in Signs. And they state that in both cases it could have been avoided by paying a small fee before they used the art work.

I created this image by taking several images and dropping the opacity down until it was pleasing to me and what I wanted it to look like. This image means a lot to me for several reasons the first being that it is the image is mainly about my mother who had a huge impact in my life and even though she may be gone it's more of a happy subject than it is depressing.

George Rush's Darker with the Day: interpretation

Describing the art work:
Darker with the Day was all contemporary work created with paint on canvas as well as being hung on a decorated wall. The work was almost set up as if you were looking outside from inside a house; it was evenly spaced and symmetrical. The work was very dark, gray, simple they all seemed to be on what was on a square canvas it seemed to have a painterly texture smooth with some texture to it. The work all seemed fairly similar. The walls that the paintings were hung on seemed to expand the paintings, and the people viewing the paintings all seemed to react different ways to the paintings whether it be getting up close to the paintings or staying good distance away.

Interpreting the work:
The art work seemed very dark and depressed almost like it was created by someone that is depressed or mentally ill. Almost like it was a glass house with three different views to it. With the walls expanding the paintings it seemed like you could see through the walls and like the whole house was an endless view, the mood of the work seemed dark with all the dark and simple colors.

Questions:
1)  What is your main motivation when you are creating your work?
2) What do you want/think that people get out of your work?
3) What do you get out of your work and why?

Christiane Paul Digital Art
Scott Griesbach Dark Horse of Abstraction (1995)
-There are many things that made this painting interesting to me what mainly attracted me to it was the horse in the front and wondering why the artist would do the many different things that he did like the different tack on the horses leaving things out that normally would be there and even the look on the jockeys faces.

Annu Palakunnathu Matthew Bollywood Satirized works
- These stood out to me because they seem like in the times they'd be a big controversy piece I also like the ideas and thoughts that she is creating with this work about right and wrong and controversy’s about the war/s that were going on in that time frame.

Craig Kalpakjian
-His work stood out to me because I wanted to walk down the hallways that were in his work and figure out what might be down the hall ways and why he was portraying these images, as well as the broken glass/windows images
